Energy Metabolism Lab

The Energy Metabolism Lab was founded in 2019 and is directed by Edward Melanson, PhD. The focus of the lab is on studying energy metabolism and physical activity, particularly how these change in response to lifestyle interventions involving exercise, diet, weight loss, and sleep. The Energy Metabolism Lab provides resources for the assessment of energy expenditure under highly controlled conditions using whole room indirect calorimetry and free-living conditions using doubly labeled water, as well as physical activity using various activity monitors.
